Fire Check Consultants Pty Ltd has worked across Australia's and NZ’s built environment since 1999, and our engineers bring more than 75 years of combined industry experience to every project that comes through our Brisbane Head Office.
We were among the first practices in the country to work with performance-based fire design, back when it was still a new way of meeting the Building Code, and we've stayed close to that discipline ever since. Developers, asset managers and design teams across Queensland and beyond come to us to navigate regulatory challenges and deliver outcomes that preserve life, property, and capital value.
Regional Manager (Projects), PNG
Australia’s building approval process is shaped by the National Construction Code, state-based legislation, Australian Standards, and the expectations of local certifiers and fire authorities. Fire Check Consultants works with developers, architects, builders, certifiers, and project consultants to address fire engineering and compliance requirements early, before they become a risk to building approval, occupation, or project delivery.
Because the NCC can be satisfied through either prescriptive Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions or Performance Solutions, compliance is not always a simple matter of following one fixed pathway. Our team helps project teams understand what is required for their building type, what the approval authority will need to see, and where a performance-based approach may be appropriate.
Where we help:
Fire safety requirements can differ between Australian jurisdictions, so we help project teams understand the local approval context, not just the national code position.
Where a standard prescriptive approach does not suit the building design, we develop the engineering justification, modelling, and supporting documentation needed to demonstrate compliance.
For sites in bushfire-prone areas, remote locations, or sensitive environmental settings, we support compliance with AS 3959 and help adapt fire strategies where standard urban assumptions do not apply.
Many projects come to us after a certifier or fire service has raised a compliance issue. We help project teams understand the problem, assess the available options, and move forward with a solution that can stand up to review.
Fire Check Consultants has delivered fire engineering solutions across a broad range of prestigious projects, spanning tall residential towers, large retail centres, health facilities, automated warehouses, industrial complexes, government and defence sites, mines, airports, and more.
Qualified
Our fire protection engineers are Chartered, APEC Engineers, and International Professional Engineers, registered across every Australian state and internationally, so approvals move through fire authorities and certifiers without delays caused by accreditation gaps.
Connected
We are a boutique firm by design, so our clients work directly with senior engineers rather than being passed through layers of a larger multidisciplinary practice. Our approach to professional development and quality assurance is built around careful, considered work.
Established
Founded in 1999, with more than 75 years of combined industry experience behind the team working on Australian projects today, including recognition from the UDIA for our work on the Link Portside development.
Comprehensive
Our fire investigation capability is something few Australian fire engineering firms are qualified to offer, and it sits alongside our design and certification work rather than as a separate service.
